How Long Does Multi-Engine Rating Take?

A multi-engine rating is a necessary step in pursuing an aviation career, but it doesn’t have to require months of study and training. So, how long does it take?” At Sierra Charlie Aviation, the magic number is just seven days.

All of your practice will happen in our 2019 PA-44 Piper Seminole, the standard for multi-engine training. You’ll learn how to harness the increased size and power safely and efficiently.  Come to Sierra Charlie to achieve the endorsement for your weekend fun or to further your career.

How Long Does Multi-Engine Rating Take? Before signing up for our course, understand the prerequisites.

Pilots pursuing their multi-engine add-on endorsement should have a current FAA medical and an existing private or commercial pilot certificate. They’ll also have to prove US citizenship or TSA approval in the case of non-citizens.

To get a job at an airline, you’ll need to have 25 hours of flight time in a twin-engine craft, and the hours you rack up with us count toward this requirement.

We offer a seven-day program where the first four days are training on the ground and in the air. The fifth day includes a check in with the senior flight instructor, and the sixth day is off. On the seventh day, pilots will need to prove they’ve learned the material and how to operate a multi-engine plane in a verbal and practical checkride evaluation.

Benefits of Opting for Sierra Charlie Aviation

Sierra Charlie Aviation provides an add-on rating course that is heads above the rest.

We’re governed by the FAA’s FAR Part 61 guidance. That means Sierra Charlie Aviation can adjust the timeline and the curriculum to meet the student pilot’s learning styles and available time. A flight school authorized under FAR Part 141 is far stricter about these things with no flexibility allowed.

The Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) of Sierra Charlie Aviation are experienced in a range of aircraft and environments. With so many instructors available, you’ll be able to pair with an instructor who teaches how you learn best and can help you meet your goals.

Learning to fly a multi-engine aircraft will require that you practice and train. Repeating maneuvers in the air and on the ground is necessary. A Piper PA-44 Seminole is the standard for this training, and on the ground, we provide free access to a Redbird FMX Flight Simulator. You’ll be able to get all the practice you need when you choose us.
