Sam’s interest in flying was piqued by a class at his Omaha, Nebraska high school, one of the few U.S. high schools with an aviation program. His interest in aviation from a young age has endured. Sam obtained his private pilot’s license during his senior year of college and has continued to fly ever since. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Most of Sam’s flying has been in Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Minnesota and Arizona. All of his recent flying has occurred in Arizona when the opportunity arose to instruct at Sierra Charlie Aviation. Sam enjoys many aspects of flight training, especially cross-country planning and presenting students with real-world experiences.
In his free time, Sam enjoys competitive running and hiking.
