Paul was born into aviation and is a third generation pilot. His earliest memories of flying are with his grandfather in an open cockpit Waco biplane back home in Minnesota. Paul grew up amidst a family run FBO, flight school and world renowned aircraft restoration business started by his grandfather. This allowed him to be exposed to all sides of the aviation industry and many different types of aircraft at an early age.
He officially started his flight training when he went to college and graduated from The University of North Dakota in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Science. After College, Paul slowly acquired the rest of his certificates and ratings while also working full time. During this time he flew the family Beechcraft Bonanza all around the country with his uncle to find and ferry aircraft restoration projects.
Paul has logged over 1500 hours of flight time in a wide range of aircraft. He began flight instructing at a large Phoenix based Part-141 school in 2018. While there he climbed the ranks to eventually become a team manager and check pilot. Paul joined the SCA team in February of 2020 and has never looked back. Just as his grandfather did with him at a young age, Paul focuses on stick and rudder skills and situational awareness with new students to help them succeed. He enjoys sharing his lifelong passion with others and building a connection with each one of his students.
