Arizona Flight Training
Scottsdale, Arizona is the top location in the world for flight training and the home of Sierra Charlie Aviation. Learn to fly with our highly trained flight instructors in less time than other programs.
Sierra Charlie Aviation is proud to be a Cessna Pilot Center (CPC), providing top-quality, professional flight training in new Cessna Skyhawk 172 aircraft. Students gain the advantage of Cessna’s 75 years of expertise in training most of the world’s pilots to fly and will be able to transfer what they learn to any other aircraft on Cessna’s production line.
Honored by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) as one of the top flight schools in the country, our owner and senior flight instructor, Scott Campbell, has also been named as one of AOPA’s Top 10 Outstanding Flight Instructors in the United States.
New to Flying?
No matter your ultimate goal – recreational flying or a career in aviation – it all begins with obtaining your Private Pilot License.
Sierra Charlie Aviation currently provides flight training under the authority of Federal Aviation Regulations (or FAR) Part 61, which gives students greater flexibility than FAR Part 141 training.
Lesson content and the sequence of the training program can be modified at the discretion of your instructor. We can also customize your training schedule to fit around your work/school schedule.
The required minimum flight time for a Private Pilot License is 40 hours, but the actual number of hours will vary from student to student based on dedication and availability. The more often you fly, the faster you can earn your license. By flying often, you will also avoid becoming rusty from lack of practice.
When you begin your flight training as a student pilot, you will also begin ground school, where you will learn about aerodynamics, weather, aircraft systems, flight planning, and federal regulations.
Already a Pilot?
If you are already a licensed pilot, we offer extended and recurring training programs and instrument flight training. An instrument rating will enable you to fly into a wider variety of conditions and refine your ability to use the flight instruments and fully utilize the National Airspace System.
Due to the high density of surrounding airports with instrument approaches, Sierra Charlie Aviation offers the perfect location to get the most out of instrument training flights. Our aircraft are equipped with the Garmin G1000 Avionics and GFC700 Autopilot which enables us to shoot coupled approaches during training.
Other Signature Programs
While Sierra Charlie Aviation strives to instill confidence in our students from the very beginning, we can help you increase your confidence in the pilot’s seat before flying on your own. Whether it’s a flight around the pattern or a flight across the country, a day with strong crosswinds or crossing into busy airspace, our instructors are here to lend a hand.
Another of our signature programs is the G1000 Class Cockpit Transition Training, which delves deep into the wide array of features offered in this system. For example, learn how to utilize the Vertical Navigation capabilities, the NextRad Weather, and the Terrain Awareness and Warning System.
Sierra Charlie Aviation offers flight training in Arizona for everyone from individuals with no pilot experience at all to those eager to enhance their flying skills. Call us today at (480) 474-4115 to get started.
